30/08/01 - Exhaust question from Marcelo pronto@teletext.co.uk - anyone enlighten us please? Yoshi systems are available in the USA but not here (UK), is it that their spec is different or is it because their noise pollution regulations are'nt as tight as ours, any idea? Marcelo - thanks for your email and kind words not listed above... |

22/08/01 - High power at standard - thanks to Sara SaraLWells@aol.com for the note I had to write, I had a Renagade 2 into 2 low level renegade exhaust fitted last weekend, and I still haven't lost the smile !!! We turned up, met Jorge, who put my bike on the dyno, and were both supprised to find my bike was 76bhp before they even started. wow - I had 74.6 with bike as standard and I know a few other people have come close but 76 is the most I've seen - not bad considering Suzuki only claim 69bhp! After my beautiful pipes were put on, they put the bike back on the dyno, and its now quicker than Jorges. If anyone is unsure of what exhaust to fit to their SV then they must go and see Jorge at Renegade, nothing else is worth it |

I bought my 2001 SV650s and they just got the 2002 in. It was blue. It's been sitting there for a few days... Just seems to get one more piece
of foam taken out of the crate per day. :) The guy in back hasn't had time to
finish it. |

16/08/01 - Forks replaced under warranty - this happened to David david@wotherspoon4.fsnet.co.uk Thought you might like to know that I've just had a lower fork casing replaced "under warranty" due to corrosion. This took the form of worm trails in the metal; probably caused by salt. This only seemed to happen on the left fork so they replaced it. It took about 4 weeks but it happened. The dealer was North Harbour Motorcycles in Ayr, Scotland. The moral of the story is if you don't ask you don't get! So if you have corrosion problems get on to your dealer. too right... |

16/08/01 - SV carb heaters (READ THIS!!!) - the saga continues with much thanks to Jed Lynjed@aol.com for sticking with this issue just a note for those still suffering with carb icing problems (winter is approaching - again and I still receive emails). If you have an import without heaters or yours are buggered and out of warranty, they can be obtained in the UK from Suzuki for £46.50 plus vat. Fitting costs extra - down to the dealer. They are easy to fit, they just screw in, but some wiring is required . However the excellent link someone provided that enables you to download the SV manual in PDF format (see www.svrider.com for microfiche downloads - I was asked to remove the direct links to the files themselves that I once displayed), has the relevant wiring diagrams (somebody buy that man a pint - just how long did getting that entire manual together take!) I reckon it is just about possible to fit them without removing the carbs. For foreign owners I am unable to confirm which country fit them as Suzuki inform that each country chooses its own spec (I beleive the Uk is unique). However you should be able to order them from your dealer, if not many UK dealers will mail direct to you. If your genuine UK SV is misfiring in the cold Suzuki say it shouldn't, if you still experienced this after a dealer has looked at it, then Suzuki will investigate with their support (their words not mine). Anybody who suffers a problem this winter and cannot get it cured after visiting the dealer, please vent your fury on Mr Charles Dennison at Suzuki Gb PLC. Tel 01293 766000 Fax 01293 545315. Those with parallels, need to take the independent importer to one side and get them to fit them - lesson is don't buy a parallel SV without them fitted in the price! |

16/08/01 - Lower fairing, hugger and rear seat cover part numbers - all thanks to Steve steve.george@smgee.co.uk I scanned this from a Suzuki magazine my local dealer gave me. It
gives the part numbers for official Suzuki body accessories. These are actually
made I ordered a lower fairing and tail cowl for my yellow SVSK1 from my local dealer, and they arrived within 3 working days. The delivery time depends on whether Suzuki GB have stock or not. Colour matching is spot on, and the quality is excellent for the price. I hope this is of interest. yes it is, thank very much! |

10/08/01 - Hang off #1 -
trackday comments and images - thanks very much to Rich richardw@lsdicon.com
I just thought I’d send you these 2 pics of me on the little SV down at the Pembrey Racetrack, in South Wales. It's an excellent track, and very
easy to learn. It’s not a power track, so I was hunting down (and overtaking) TL’s and GSX’s. I was in the fast group, and the only things that came
past me were race bikes on slicks. I have done a few mods over time to the SV, but nothing major. I have put the bottom fairing on, and a hugger,
as well as new springs put in the front, and had the back shock lengthened, put 140 mains jets in and moved the needle up a notch, and I run on
Michellin Pilots sports (THE best tyres I think). This bike handles like a dream. I have completely worn away the blobs on the foot pegs, so bad in
fact, I think I will have to buy a new right hand peg because the blob is now gone, and it was wearing the foot peg away by the end of the day, but
hey it was fun, and makes sparks, but I need to move them out the way next time. |

The Rocket Locker - if your interested in this good looking
tail bag for the SV see the website or contact Leslie LAlderman@aol.com
I have a patent-pending soft luggage piece
now available that locks on the bike in place of the rear passenger seat on
sportbikes (Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, BMW, Ducati, Triumph, Aprilia).
Called a Rocket Locker. Rocket
Locker.. The revolutionary locking tail-bag for Sportbikes I've attached a pic of it on the SV650. It was just reviewed
in the August issue of CYCLE WORLD here...and I have sold dozens of them. It
is a Cordura luggage piece with a hard baseplate and fittings mounted on the
bottom that lock it on the bike in place of the removeable rear seat. Here is the Elite Zip-Pak Rocket Locker in blue...we do them all black,
red/black, blue/black. It will hold a full face helmet. Plenty of room for
ovvernite trips. This is the one we did for the magazine pics. I can do them like this if
ordered this way. Let me hear from you if you have any interest or comments. |
07/08/01 - In
