POSTINGS  FOR JANUARY  2002

Jan 31st

I've removed the Suzuki web ring from this page. It wasn't working properly. I did ask for help but this was limited to "place it in a more obvious place". So I have. John

Jan 30th Martin Forsyth sent me this email praising his Quill can.

I recently fitted the carbon Quill Powerflow to my naked sv. It looks great, has a really deep tone to it - are they sure it's road legal? The bike seems to want to leap forward even more than it used to!!! If anyone wants a legal can - this is the one.

Updated the Sv restore page...John

Jan 23rd From TommyFumi
Since a few weeks now my personal SV related website is on-line: http://www.kneedatspeed.nl/TommyFumi.asp . The site is a part of the main site: http://www.kneedatspeed.nl  (Kneed At Speed), which is made by me and a friend. This site contains pictures, video's, wallpapers, links, biketests and other items concerning sportbikes. Our question is if it's possible to place a link to us at your site. Of course we will add a link on ours to SV650.org in return. Many thanks in advance. Best regards,

I got this email from Tommy. I've added to the links section. See what you think. John

Jan 21st

I've started the cleanup work on my SV. It's a tad depressing that so much corrosion is present. If you're interested the photos are in the images section or click here. John

Jan 21st from Jack in Vancouver

Am considering buying the Tecknic Cordura "Striker" jacket...has bodyarmour...waterproof ...anyone have any comments on Tecknic jackets ?..is the nylon jacket a good alternative to leather? Also tried out the new lowered factory seat that Suzuki is offering on the SVS 650 at the Vancouver Motorcyle show.....seems like a really good alternative for anyone looking to lower  the sv......my 2001 SVS has longer dogbones installed ...but the lowered seat I'm sure is better ..

Jan 21st from Bryan Hodgson

Hi John           can you please post this on the sv site of my sv fitted with crash bungs fitted by R-G Racing in Farnborough. I had these fitted after meeting a diesel spill. after repairs I didn't want to take any chances again. I just wish I had them fitted earlier and not only that but they are a terrific confidence booster knowing that if it happens again the damage will be minimal (unlike your ego)    cheers   Bryan Hodgson

I send you a picture of my tuning project for the SVS, I hope you enjoy it! If you like i can make you some projects like this one (based on the SVS or on the naked version.. You'll be very cool to put this photograph on your website!!!! Thanks Excuse me for my English, i did'nt practice it very often!

Jan 14th From Zord in Spain.

Hi! My nickname is zord, I come from Spain, I'm 21 years old. I have a beautiful Sv in s version, in a deep and metallic blue, I have visited your page every week since I fall in love with my sv. This have 4 months but I know it in '99 when Suzuki starts to sell it. My English is not very well, excuse me, i don't use this never. I would like you put my sv photos in your web. Thanks for all and receive my greetings. Www.sv650.org is the most popular sv web in the world.

Thanks Zord, your English is far better than my Spanish. John

Jan 14th More from  Brian Renn's I wrote back to Brian after his previous email asking for more info about the GSXR fairing on his SV. Here is his reply. John

John,  I wanted to let you know, that I have a great hook up when it comes to  Gixer plastic (for racers) that is made FOR the SV. I looks just like the  real deal, and you don't even have to make any cuts like I had to for the  bodywork I used! With mounting brackets and everything you need for the SV >or the SVS $525.00 USD they come with the uppers, lowers, tail section,  and front fender and as I said, mounting brackets are included. If they  don't want brackets, it is $400.00 USD. That price is only good till  March 1st, and then it goes up $100.00. So have everyone email me and I  will take good care of them!  Brian Renn

Jan 10th Some Photos of Brian Renn's race bike.

Here are some good pics of the race bike from last season. Since then I have made some changes to it, but everything still pretty much looks the same. I have put a Micron High race only pipe on it and yes this is GSXR bodywork.I can already hear the question "so how do you fit a GSXR fairing onto an SV?"

Jan 9th Screen Query from Phillip Poulten

John A quick question I hope you can answer but first a thank you for a site that every other rider I know who owns a different bike is envious we have! You have posted a picture of a Red SV in Catalog 15 called sv65004ringdiskt.JPG, it is the one with a rim mounted disks. The bike also has a screen that I have never seen before and now want on my SV. Do you know who sent it to you? Or where the screen comes from? Any info is greaty appreciated. I tried a post on the Forum but no one seemed to know about it. Have a good New Year and keep up the great work! Phil

I obtained this pic by complete chance whilst playing with google image search. Of course it can't be found now, let alone any details.

John Just a quick update, it has taken me all day to find but I have worked out the screen is by French Company Ermax. There is another picture of a blue version on svrider.com on a Blue SV. It is under General Photos and is the 14th Post down on Archive 7. Have attached it for your info. Have contacted the UK Distributors of Ermax, a company called On Two Wheels Distribution Co. in Swansea and will keep you upated. Cheers Phil

Hope this is useful to other people. John

Jan 1st Mick wants your Rubber!

john could you please advertise this for me cheers mick. Wanted rear tyres to fit my svs i do 60 miles a day to work and use a lot of rubber 01375411273.  As well as taking any part used Metz, I suspect Mick would like to hear of any cheap sources of new tyres.

Jan 1st

Happy New Year to all our readers. Never thought I'd ever type that clichéd line, but it's true. First change for '02 is to remove the remnants of the old for-sale page. Hopefully everyone is now using the forum, although not always the correct one ;-) The other thing I need to start considering is the 2002 rideout. James Holland has already written to me on this topic and is keen to get us all down to the west country or even on a  track day. I'm open to all ideas. I don't want a repeat of last year where Kev and I assumed that someone local would show us some good roads, so wherever we go I'd like a local volunteer to show us some good tarmac. Failing that, we could just choose a well known venue like the National motorcycle museum or a race track(day), that way those that want to chat ,can , those that want to go for a blast can also do their thing. Ideas on a postcard to me and  I'll do some sort of vote. Very democratic plus I don't blamed if it goes pear shaped.

Bi 4 now

John
