Thanks for the great site some of the info on the site has come in very handy, I hope that you can or your readers of the site can help me with the rear calliper on my SV.

I have recently had the first MOT done on the bike and it came to light after the MOT while i was doing some home maintenance on the bike that the pin holding the rear brake pads in place has seized solid, i have tried all sorts of cures but it is still stuck firm any ideas as this stopping me from doing a 5 min job of cleaning calliper and replacing the pads.

any help gratefully received

This has been covered before in the forum, but for the record here are some options. In my case I removed the calliper from the bike and then took it apart by removing the two large bolts. This leaves one half of the calliper with the two pins sticking out and lots of space to try and grip them and pull them out (after applying some antiseize oil). I still couldn't get them out and had to cut them off flush with the calliper body and then re-drill the blind holes to the correct depth. I then put the whole lot together and put new pins in.  Some people drill right through and fit longer pins (DO NOT try and fit the original pins if you do this as they are designed to be used with the blind hole and may therefore go all the way through and drop the outside pad). They are Ideal for use on motor bikes, scooters, mopeds, speaker boxes, subs, amps, boot builds, footwells etc. Both the 6 and 12 inch tubes have fixing screws and instructions. i thought how would the fit onto a bike and connect to the battery. The website states We can pre-fit a switch and ring terminals allowing direct connection to your bike's battery, additional £4

so i thought bargain lets get some. 2 days later they arrived both neon's linked up together connected to ring terminals which was really easy to fit onto the bike. The switch fits nicely under the seat on the grab rail as i call it.

i would recommend these to anyone who wants their bike to stand out from the rest.

I did this years ago to my Suzuki GT750. I polished the engine (it had no fins being water cooled) and then fitted a red tail light under the petrol tank. Looked great at night (well I thought so at the time).

My question is: Is it possible to get the pictures (which I send to you) on the internet site. I think that my SV is also special because I make it my own look. For example: The exhaust system is a high level titanium Laser (what a sound), a rear undertray by Ermax, a seatcover by MDI, a spoiler by Ermax, WP suspension and metal brake drains. Well I'm biased because it's the same model and colour as mine, the best blue version ever!

Thanks to all those that sent cash donations to me over the last few weeks, you know who you are. I think the total came to just over £100 and I added another £67 from the profit on the stickers sold. This converted to a nice round $300 for the server owner and the chaps that provide the network pipe.

The clocks went back this weekend and I found myself riding home in the dark, not something I do a lot of these days. Can't say I enjoyed it much what with the rubbish headlights on the mk1 SV.  I'm just thankful I don't have to slog into central London every day like I used to. I can't think of anything more dangerous than riding a bike in darkness whilst raining. How many cars drivers could cope without windscreen wipers. For anyone still doing the daily slog into London, you have my respect and sympathy.
