Oct 16th 'New Product' from
James Holland Racing jhsracing@lineone.net
John, I have started to produce new cylinder barrels for SV. The new cylinders are a direct replacement for the standard Suzuki items but can be ordered with the option of different piston bore sizes. i.e. 81mm std 650 high compresion, 84mm 700cc kit, 87mm 750cc kit and by special order only 90mm 800cc kit. All the cylinders have a plated bore and use Forged pistons, manufactured to our spec's. Prices as yet have not been set but we will endeavor to keep costs as low as possible. But we are still able to offer the 84mm 700cc kit at a special offer price to be fitted to original Suzuki cylinders (which only require re-boring) at the offer price of £450.00 supplied and fitted. But this offer will run out shortly. As you are aware there are further details on these and other products on our site www.jhsracing.co.uk |

Oct 16th 'Regarding New
Headlight Blackout Mesh' from Julian Sarboiu jsarb@sympatico.ca
Julian has informed me that interest from UK users is high. The costs could be reduced further if someone wants to act as the UK agent and distribute the mesh to those that asked for it. Details need to be worked out but if anyone is interested, contact Julian and arrange. I'll be happy to broadcast the arrangement and add any pages/links reguired to help out. If you're wondering why I'm not doing it, hell! I have to sleep sometime ;-) John |

Oct 14th 'Fork mods' from
Pasi Ikonen pasii@lycos.com
I changed front fork springs for my 02 SVS. My local dealer had Progressive Suspension kit for SV 99 - 01. I asked from Progressive Suspension will it fit to my 02 SVS. They said that they haven't done for SV since 01, so I think they really don't know. Only different in 99 and 02 front fork is the preload cap. I bought the kit and installed it with the original Progressive Suspension kit spacers (it was 25 mm long, but the manual in Progressive WWW-site said 2,5 Inch.) In SV 99 model the spacer is longer because it is without preload cap (it should be 2,5 Inch. with Progressive kit). I was able to determine the spring-spacer length using the original spring-spacer length. It was 10 mm shorter with Progressive kit, but with the adjustable preload cap I was able to install the kit with almost right preload, or correct Sag, I weight 70 Kg. Sag is the important thing. Now I was able to test ride the bike and measure the real Sag. It was now easy test ride the bike with different preload settings. Now I was able to test ride the bike and measure the real Sag. It was now easy test ride the bike with different preload settings. I made the 43 mm long spacer so that my preload cap was adjusted in minimum preload position with correct sag. Now I can have more preload (less sag) for trackday if I want to. When I changed the Progressive spacer for the Custom made 43 mm spacer I also changed the fork oil to 15W Castrol. I set the oil level to 140 mm from cap. I haven't test ride the bike after oil change but it feels better ( it is winter now in Finland) It has now more rebound damping. Next thing is the rear suspension. It is a bit too hard for me, even in minimum preload setting. SV is a great bike with not so great suspension, I guess it's cost that matters here for Suzuki. I hope this info is useful ... ;-) Sure is, thanks for sending this..John |

Oct 14th 'New site' from
Jorge @ Renagade mail@renegade-products.com
Hi John, Just to let you know that Ridersite has added to their stables a new site totally dedicated to the Suzuki Twins www.s2ridersite.com the idea is to keep in touch those who own a twin Suzuki but change models staying within the twin set up. I for one may be joining the Vstrom club, I rode one of my clients bike and really enjoyed it. However I am keeping the SV as she still has a lot of pleasure left to keep my grin up. Oct 11th 're
2wheeljunkie.com bodywork featured on James Holland's bike in the
September Performance Bikes issue' from Rob Chappell
Hi John, regarding the 2wheeljunkie.com bodywork featured on James Holland's bike in the September Performance Bikes issue (pages 40-43) I have received a lot of inquiries from your U.K. readers about the full bodywork for the SV650S and the shipping costs to the U.K. The shipping is quite high at $240.00 U.S. due to the size of box needed to ship the product but I can fit 2 sets of bodywork in one box. So.. if your readers would like to arrange some kind of group purchase (in groups of two) I can cut the shipping cost in half. Or if there is a central dealer in the U.K. who is interested in purchasing product in larger quantities I would be willing to speak further. I hope this helps some of your readers out. I can be reached at info@2wheeljunkie.com 2wheeljunkie.com - Motorcycle network http://www.2wheeljunkie.com Orders: 905-576-4579 Fax. 905-576-3933 Bodywork, rearsets, clip-ons, race stands & Exhaust |

Oct 10th 'New Headlight
Blackout Mesh' from Julian Sarboiu jsarb@sympatico.ca
Hi John, I am a fellow SV rider in Toronto, Canada, and have acquired a special headlight covering mesh which can be put on any motorcycle or car headlight. It makes the bike look sleek, and also protects the lenses from stone chips and damage. I have enclosed a pic of the stuff on my friend's R1 for you to see, I haven't got around to putting it on my SV yet. Lockhard Philips sells this stuff for $29.99 USD, for a 11 x 14 inch piece. I have 1 square foot pieces available for a much cheaper price, only $19.99 USD. I have it available in White, Black, Red, Yellow and Blue, and am offering this special price for fellow SV riders only. Normally I am selling it for $24.99 USD. As you will see in the pics, the mesh takes nothing away from the headlight beams when they are on, so there is not a shortage of light caused by them... they just make the bike look a whole lot sweeter! Please let me know if anyone over there is interested! I have just posted on your board regarding these. http://www.lockhartphillipsusa.com/lightlids.html Regards, Julian Sarboiu PS I might even be able to offer a slighly lower discounted price if people got together to order in bulk. Like in stead of $19.99, probably around $17.99. |

Oct 8th 'New sv site' from
Pedro Leal pleal@agiltec.pt
Hi, John! My name is Pedro Leal and I am Portuguese. I have a Suzuki SV650S (Mostly because of your wonderful site!) for about 2 years and a half and now I am trying to promote my own SV650's site. Although the site is written in Portuguese language, I have already started to translate it to English. It's the first Portuguese site about the SV650, because here the bike is not very popular, but I want to change this situation trough the "Clube sv650.pt" (stands for sv650.pt club). I hope you include my URL in your website. Best regards, Pedro Leal http://homepage.oninet.pt/617muj/ Looks nice John |

Oct 1st
October, the month of slippery leaves and the sun blasting into your eyes on the way home from work. Nothing much to report on a personal front this month. Kev and I had a run up to Donnington the weekend before last to see the British Touring Car races. Wouldn't normally have gone but we had free tickets, so what the hell. Some bloke called Aaron Slight got punted off in the first race. I got to use my new soft panniers again, what luxury! Carry as much as I want. Change into some sensible clothes when I arrive and leave all the bike clobber on the SV. Made a nice change to be able to walk around in comfort. I still haven't changed the rear tyre but it won't last much longer, time to put an order in before the weather starts to deteriate. Thanks to Stephen Spiteri for this months image. Stephen is a big Ogri fan (as am I) and this is a tribute to Paul Sample. Safe Biking John. |
